Little Habits to Transform You from Man to Gentleman

(How to Become a Gentleman)

Being a Gentleman is not just about wearing expensive clothings and accessories. And also, a gentleman need not always be in a three piece suit. He can wear a variety of dresses and still be a gentleman.

Being a Gentleman is way beyond how you physically appear in the eyes of the world.

So, what makes a man a Gentleman?

We need to dive deeper to understand what makes a Gentleman?

Being a Gentleman is not only about the clothing but also the behaviour displayed in society.

Replace Everyday Old Habits With New in order to Transform Yourself from Man to a Gentleman Starting Today.

Let us look at few quotes and certain characteristics that will guide us in our path to become a Gentleman.

Things that Make You a Gentleman

(1) Personal Hygiene comes first.

Maintain proper hygiene twenty four by seven. You never know whom who will meet on the way.

Personal hygiene is like perfume. You may think otherwise but people around you will know about your personal hygiene habits.

(2) Keep your surroundings clean.

Have you seen people eating all kinds of things at the roadside and throwing the wrapper on the road? These people think that as there are people to clean the road so it's their duty to throw garbage on the road. Even if there is a dustbin nearby, they are too lazy to walk up to it and throw the garbage into it.

I always wonder - Where do these people come from?

A Gentleman in the making makes sure that he doesn't participate in making public place a dustbin. Instead, he makes sure that he doesn't throw anything on road that will spoil the look of the place.

Even if he is staying alone, he will ensure that his home is neat and clean. Everything has a place and everything is in place.

Being a Gentleman is a lifestyle. Once a Gentleman always a Gentleman.

(3) Respect yours as well as other people's time.

What this translates into is, don't allow others to waste your time by unnecessarily making you wait. Also, practice being before time wherever you go because as the saying goes - 'If you are on time you are already late.'

(4) Never Complain of not having enough time. Create time for whatever is important for you, and have something important to do.

Every body, every day get new 24 hours. So never say you don't have time. Instead, see where you are wasting time. Stop doing that and create time for yourself.

Have a purpose, have a goal that you want to pursue and you will create time for achieving it.

A Gentleman is a Gentleman even when he is all alone.

Characteristics of a Gentleman

(5) Be trustworthy but never trust anyone blindly.

Trust is the confidence people gain towards you by your behaviour. This implies that you cannot tell others to trust you, they may not. Instead show them by your little actions that you are worthy of their trust.

Never trust what people say, but always trust what people do. People may lie about themselves, but their actions and behaviours don't. It reveals the true personality of an individual.

(6) If you don't know say so, and be willing to learn. Don't try to be a 'I know everything.'

A Gentleman in the making believes in Continuous and Never Ending Improvement.

Don't shy away from learning and improving yourself. Be willing to learn from people, even kids, situations and mistakes.

But be very cautious and careful whom you take your advice from.

(7) Have a standard and values and make sure you set them high.

Setting high standards doesn't mean buying expensive stuff and eating out at an expensive restaurant even though you cannot afford it.

Set high standards in your communication, in your behaviour towards others, in choosing the company of friends you want to keep.

It is said that, 'If you don't stand for something, you will fall for everything.' That is why it is imperative to have high values. Lack of right and high values may make us vulnerable. We may easily get influenced and fall for anything and everything.

Rules to Be a Gentleman

(8) Let everybody know who you are but don't show off.

Let your actions speak more than the words that come out of your mouth.

In order for people to respect you they need to know who you are or else they will treat you the way they treat others or even themselves - taking people for granted and passing unnecessary comments.

But maintain a balance. Don't brag about yourself exaggerating things to suit you. Learn the art of marketing yourself.

(9) Don't complain about small things.

Many people out there have no control on themselves. So, when things go wrong they start complaining about factors that are not in their control.

For example, they can't make themselves reach on time. They are always late and then they complain how the traffic on road has increased.

A Gentleman in the making knows that complaining about things that he can't control is gossiping. Instead he takes charge of what he can control.
