What is Group Discussion [GD] in SSB?

Group Discussion is a systematic, formal, and purpose-driven exchange of ideas and thoughts among the members of a group with a single common objective.

In a GD the candidates are called upon to discuss and share their ideas on a single current affair topic or any topic of general interest.

How Can I Clear My GD?

If you follow the basic guidelines that I mention below you should be able to clear your SSB GD round with confidence.

Let me forewarn you. Knowing the guidelines and being able to use them to create the required impact and result are totally different things.

So, just knowing the guidelines is not enough.

Are you using it in your GD?

Are you putting in the required number of hours to master these guidelines?

What is Expected in SSB Group Discussion Round from the Candidates?

1. The candidate should display self-confidence as he goes about performing in the GD.

2. The candidate should have enough knowledge on the subject being discussed so that he can actively participate in the discussion and make a substantial contribution to the group.

3. The candidate should be logical in his approach. He should be a part of the discussion and not speak haphazardly on the topic. He can either agree with his other team members or choose to disagree. Whatever he chooses to do he should express his thoughts taking into consideration what others are talking about on the topic.

4. The candidate should be enthusiastic and appear willing to participate and contribute. He should not appear stressed out, confused, or give the impression as to what is he doing here?

5. The candidate should keep on coming into the discussion back and forth. He should not just speak once and then keep quiet thinking that he has done his job in the SSB Group Discussion. Remember, it's a discussion where conversations happen between people.
