Begin Having Next Great Conversation Immediately Starting Today

Information You Can Start Using Every Day

‘Whose mind is controlled and focussed is like an unflickering lamp in a windless place.’

Now and then in our life, we come across a situation wherein we have to have a conversation without preparation. It’s what we call impromptu speech. Here we don’t get enough time to prepare our conversation content. We are asked a question or are given a topic and we are expected to start speaking almost instantly. We have no option but to depend on our capability to think on the spot and come up with sentences that we can use in our conversation.

For most of us, this kind of situation is something that we are not comfortable with. If it is a speech that we have to give on a topic that we didn’t prepare, then half the time we fumble and search for words to speak. Sometimes we even find ourselves repeating the same sentences over and over.

This is a typical case where time expands for us. It appears to move at the speed of a snail. Even one minute appears like one hour.

We feel embarrassed in front of our audience.

Come what may, we will have to face such situations in our daily life. These situations come without informing which leaves us no time for preparation.

I have experienced this situation and maybe some of you must also have gone through this pain.

Is there a way out of this, other than not getting into these kinds of situations or running away from it?

Yes, there is a way!

In this blog I am going to share with you how you can build upon what you know on the spot and have an enriching conversation or give an impressive speech without preparation.

Let us take a very simple situation from our life. Say, I am meeting a friend on a Monday and he asks you–‘Hey how was your Sunday?’

Now, let us assume that I have to speak on this topic for about a minute.

How do I start?

How do I move ahead?

Here’s the tip:

Expand Upon What You Know and Begin Having Next Great Conversation Immediately

1. As you start to speak, focus on one sentence at a time.

2. Pick up one key or more keywords from your spoken sentence and build upon them to create a new sentence.

3. As you speak, enjoy the emotion of that sentence so that your listener can also enjoy your talk.

Well, that’s it!

Keep on going for as long as you want and then as you reach your time limit, just conclude your speech.

Below, I have written a short script on ‘How was your Sunday?’ Go ahead and read it and then I will meet you after the paragraph.

How Was Your Sunday?

My Sunday was great. It was one of the best Sundays I have ever had in years. I went to a movie in a Mall with my friends. It was a comedy movie. My friends and I laughed a lot. After the movie, we went to have pizza at Domino’s. I ordered extra cheese for my pizza because I love cheese. Then we went window shopping. We saw many new things. Every single one of us was extremely excited. We did what everybody does at the Mall–take group selfies from every possible angle. We even posted those selfies on our social media accounts and tagged friends who didn’t come with us, just to tease them on what they were missing. It was late in the evening when I reached home. On the way, also we were laughing and cheering. Wow! What an evening it was! It was an experience that we all wanted to repeat. So, my friends and I look forward to another Mall adventure in the coming months.

Now, read the same paragraph once again. Here I have marked few words in a sentence as bold. You will notice that I have used the words in bold as a keyword and expanded on them to continue my speech or conversation.

How Was Your Sunday?

My Sunday was great (Expand this keyword). It was one of the best (Expand this keyword) Sunday’s I have ever had in years. Did you notice how I identified the keywords in the sentence and then built upon it to create a new sentence?

Let me explain with few examples. I started my first line with:

‘My Sunday was great.’

The first sentence of my speech becomes ‘Topic Sentence.’ All my speech will revolve around this single topic sentence, that is, whatever I say it should make my listeners feel My Sunday was great.

Here the keyword is great.

I used this keyword to create my next sentence:

‘It was one of the best Sunday’s I have ever had in years.’

You will notice that I expanded on the keyword, great, and said the second line. Great expanded to one of the best.

Then I expanded the keyword, one of the best, to form my new sentence:

‘I went for a movie to a Mall with my friends.’

Going to a movie in a Mall with a gang of friends is one way to have a great and one of the best Sundays. So, my sentences are supporting the topic sentence.

Likewise, I have developed my one-minute speech on a question that was asked impromptu to me. Every time I used my keywords to guide me or show me the path to expand my thought process.

Hope you could connect with the concept that I shared above.

Now, before you master this technique, you need to be conscious of using this technique in the beginning. You should use it consciously in your speech or conversation. After following this technique consciously, your mind will get used to it and this will become automatic for you.
